Frequently Asked Questions

Treatment

Anyone above 18 years of age can benefit from my therapeutic services. No referral is needed to start treatment.

However, you must go through an initial evaluation to determine if I am the right professional to help you.

No. I am qualified to work with anyone within my professional abilities. If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact me.

Each session has a duration of 50 minutes. Initially, sessions take place on a weekly basis. As the treatment progresses, the appointments may transition to a bi-weekly schedule. This change will depend on the specific needs of each case.

The therapeutic space is a non-judgmental and welcoming place. You can speak freely about anything important to you. My job is to support you with whatever your issues are, and judgment is not a part of that process.

Besides working with the subjects you bring up during therapy, as your therapist, I may suggest issues that I believe are relevant to be addressed during the sessions. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of this process, which is why I value transparency and sincerity during our journey working together.

Suppose you don't know exactly what to talk about during therapy. In that case, I want to assure you that, for some people, it takes time to express and share their emotions, and it sometimes takes a process of discovery before getting to the core of the issues. As a therapist, I am experienced in engaging in this discovery process together.

I offer a 15-min phone call (Introductory session) to determine if I am the right person to help you. This call is also an opportunity for you to get to know me and decide whether you would like to have me as your psychologist.

Appointments

You can schedule your first session by contacting me via WhatsApp, email or by filling out the form in the Contact. Once I receive your request, I will contact you to schedule a free 15-min phone call where you can ask me all the questions you might have about my work.

No, I do not work with a waiting list. I will do my best to arrange your first session as soon as possible considering our availability. The time frame for your first appointment varies between 1-2 weeks.

For new clients, having weekly session is important to guarantee the quality and effectiveness of therapy. Therefore, new clients always start with a package of 4 sessions. After, the client can then choose between paying the following sessions individually or opting for another package.

Online sessions

Studies have shown that online therapy is effective for several mental health issues. In some cases, online therapy is not advised, and if this is your case, I will inform you during after the intake session.

  • Accessibility: You will be able to receive treatment from me anywhere in the world.
  • Convenience: Sessions can take place in the comfort of your home.
  • Flexibility There is more flexibility in scheduling your appointments.

Online therapy takes place through video calling software.

Payments

Payments are due at the time of each session unless we have agreed on other arrangements. Subsequently, the payable fees will be invoiced on a monthly basis.

At the moment I do not work with health insurance. Suyanne Lima Psychologist is a private practice, which means that you will be responsible for making payments for the sessions.

Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time set aside especially for you, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation an appointment. Cancellations done with less than 48 hours prior to the appointment result in full charge of the session fee.
The 100% of the session fee will also be charged in cases of non-attendance to the session or delays of more than 15 minutes.

Complaints

If you have any complaints about my services or actions, I warmly encourage you to voice them directly to me. I am always willing to schedule a separate appointment, free of charge, to listen to your concerns. You can also send a written complaint to info@suyannelima.com.

In this case, you can involve an independent person. Please get in touch with the external complaints officer. For this, I work together with Klacht&Company. In consultation with you, the complaints officer supervises the submission and further handling of your complaint.

You start by submitting your complaint, preferably via the complaint form. You can find this form on the P3NL website: here. After you have filled out the form, you may email it to P3NL@klachtencompany.nl or send it by post to Klacht&Company, PO Box 3106, 2601 DC Delft. If you are unable to access the internet yourself, request a paper copy of the complaint form from Klacht&Company (088 – 234 16 01) by phone. Don't forget to include your mailing address.
